Hi. So I bought a Thinkpad X250 at a really cheap price but the BIOS is described as locked. I remembered that people could reset some Thinkpad models' BIOS so I didn't give it too much attention. Man I was so happy to get a X250 with 6-cell battery at the price.
Now comes the sad part: turns out that X250 is not one of those models whose bios could be unlocked through short-circuiting EEPROM! How stupid I am! Nothing good comes cheap...The seller told me that it is possible to install OS with a USB stick, but I don't know if an unlocked BIOS could pose security risks to me (of course I won't be able to install Linux on it, which sucks).
So now I am befuddled as what I can do with this cheap X250? I guess the BIOS was locked because the laptop was sold to my seller from a company. But is it safe for me to use the Windows 8 that is already installed? Is it possible that the laptop contains malware that cannot be scanned? Is there anyway I can unlock the BIOS on a X250? Thank you for your help.
